Server settings

Log in to rename, reinstall, manage SFTP access for or delete your server.

What is the settings page for?

This is the housekeeping page for your server. It does not change how the game plays; it handles the things around it: the details you need to connect over SFTP, the identifiers that name your server on the system, renaming it, and the reinstall button for when something has gone badly wrong. You will not visit it often, but when you need it, you really need it.

Your SFTP connection details

SFTP is a secure way to move files between your computer and your server, and it is the fastest route when you have a lot to upload or download at once. This page holds the three pieces of information a file client needs to log in. The one thing to know up front is that your SFTP password is generated here and is not the same as your account password, so you set it on this page rather than typing your login.

DetailWhat it is
Server AddressThe host and SFTP port your client connects to
UsernameYour SFTP login, tied to your account and this server
PasswordGenerated on this page, separate from your panel password

Once you have generated a password, you plug these three values into a file client and you are in. Choosing a client and actually connecting one is covered on the file manager page, which walks through the popular tools and how to use them, so this page stays focused on handing you the credentials.

Server information

Below the connection details you will find a couple of read-only identifiers. The Node is the physical machine your server runs on, and the Server ID is the long unique code (a UUID) that identifies your exact server out of every server on the platform. You do not need to do anything with these day to day, but they are worth knowing about for one reason: if you ever open a support ticket, quoting your Server ID lets staff find your server instantly instead of guessing which one is yours.

Renaming your server

The "Change Server Details" box changes the display name of your server, the label you see in the panel and at the top of every page, and it also lets you set an optional description, a short note to yourself about what the server is for. That is all it touches. Your IP and port stay the same, your files stay where they are, and your world is completely untouched, so renaming is a safe, purely cosmetic change you can make whenever you feel like a fresh name.

Reinstalling your server

Reinstall is the last resort, and it lives in a danger zone for good reason. It runs your server's install process again from scratch, which is genuinely useful when an install has half-failed or the core files are corrupted beyond a normal fix. But depending on the server type it can overwrite or reset files in the process, and that can include your world if it is not protected.

Take a fresh backup before you ever press reinstall. If the reinstall wipes something you needed, a backup is the only way to get it back, and making one takes a few seconds against hours of lost progress.

Used carefully, reinstall is a clean way out of a broken install. Used on impulse, it is one of the fastest ways to lose a world. Treat it as the button you reach for only after the safer fixes have failed, and always with a backup already sitting safe.
